A wine of intensity and growing complexity from Château de Chamilly, embodying the natural balance of this north Côte Chalonnaise terroir.
Mercurey 1er Cru Les Puillets 2023 – Château de Chamilly
Château de Chamilly crafts a Mercurey 1er Cru Les Puillets 2023 of increasing precision, faithful to the elegance of this family domaine settled on the cool hillsides of northern Côte Chalonnaise. The climat Les Puillets, oriented east-southeast and well drained, rests on calcareous soils mixed with fine clays that give Pinot Noir a natural balance between maturity, freshness and fine tannins.
The domaine's philosophy remains centred on clean viticulture and careful parcel work, highlighting the aromatic purity of the fruit. In 2023, a sunny yet temperate vintage in Mercurey, the grapes achieved perfect ripeness without excess, allowing for gentle vinification, minimal extraction, and measured ageing that preserves the transparency of the terroir.
The wine offers a seductive nose of fresh cherry, redcurrant, raspberry and rose petal, completed by a fine touch of soft spices. The palate distinguishes itself through silky texture, delicately woven tannins and a saline finish, typical of the climat. The whole remains juicy, energetic, with a precision that echoes the finest 1er Crus of the appellation.
Food pairing and ageing: perfect with roasted poultry, fillet of beef, mushroom ravioli or aged brie. Drink now for its fruit clarity, but it will gain complexity over 5 to 8 years.
