Mercurey Clos de la Perrière 2023, Château de Chamilly
Clos de la Perrière stands among the emblematic cuvées of Château de Chamilly, sourced from an ancient enclosed vineyard on calcareous soils rich in scree, imparting to Pinot Noir a linear structure and natural freshness. In 2023, a balanced vintage for the Côte Chalonnaise, the domaine crafts a wine both precise, aromatic, and deeply rooted in its terroir.
The domaine's philosophy rests on meticulous parcel management, clean viticulture, and gentle vinifications that favour fruit and fine-grained tannins. This cuvée perfectly embodies that approach: a nose mingling black cherry, ripe raspberry, violet, and a whisper of cool stone. The palate shows greater structure than the domaine's other Mercurey bottlings, with fine tannin grain, elegant material, and a mineral energy that extends the finish.
Clos de la Perrière 2023 stands apart through its seriousness, added depth, and elegance that place it among the domaine's finest wines in this vintage.
Food pairing and age: ideal with duck breast, roasted veal fillet, partridge, or aged cheeses. Excellent now after opening early, yet its cellaring potential extends over 6 to 10 years.
