The Élixir Végétal de la Grande Chartreuse is a singular liqueur crafted from 130 medicinal and aromatic plants by Carthusian monks since 1764. At 69% alcohol, this herbal elixir works beautifully as a digestif, in tisane, or as a foundation for cocktails.
The Élixir Végétal de la Grande Chartreuse represents an unbroken tradition stretching back to 1605, though its current formulation has been refined by the monks since 1764. Built from a closely guarded recipe, it draws on 130 medicinal and aromatic plants that are carefully distilled, macerated, and extracted in the monastery's cellars. At 69% alcohol, it carries the weight and intensity of its botanical complexity, presented here in a 10 cl bottle housed in a protective wooden case.

This is a liqueur to be approached with intention. Sip it neat as a digestif after a meal, steep it in hot water with honey and lemon, dissolve a drop onto a sugar cube, or use it to anchor a carefully made cocktail. The nose carries alpine herbs and spice, with a warming, almost medicinal character on the palate. More than a drink, the Élixir represents the living heritage of monastic liqueur-making, rooted in centuries of knowledge about plants and their properties.
