A rare cuvée at its maturity, from Domaine Ernest Burn.
Alsace Grand Cru Goldert Riesling Vendange Tardive 2006 Domaine Ernest Burn
Born from the majestic limestone slope of Goldert, this 2006 Riesling Vendange Tardive from Domaine Ernest Burn embodies the ideal meeting of late ripeness, delicate noble rot and pure minerality. The 2006 vintage, ample and sun-driven, offered a perfectly ripe harvest, allowing the grape to develop remarkable aromatic complexity while retaining the tension proper to Riesling on limestone.
The nose expresses itself with captivating depth: candied citrus, orange peel, mirabelle plum, light honey, dried flowers and a fine hydrocarbon note that marks the noble evolution of the grape. On the palate, the residual sweetness is present yet perfectly balanced by a straight, saline acidity, yielding a wine at once ample, luminous and remarkably food-friendly. The structure is long and harmonious, with a vibrant finish where candied fruits, zest and minerality intertwine.
This 2006 Vendange Tardive still possesses considerable ageing potential: 10 to 15 further years will allow it to deepen its honeyed and spiced nuances while preserving its structuring freshness. Enjoy it with foie gras, sweet and savoury cuisine, aged hard cheese, or at the end of a meal to savour all its aromatic complexity.
