Honey, rose, lychee and candied oriental spices. Exceptional Grains Nobles from Goldert, signed Burn, opulent and complex.
Alsace Grand Cru Goldert Gewurztraminer Grains Nobles 2013 Domaine Ernest Burn
From the mythical calcareous slope of Goldert, this Gewurztraminer Grains Nobles 2013 represents one of the rarest and most noble expressions from Domaine Ernest Burn. The vintage, marked by slow and regular botrytisation, allowed exceptional concentration while preserving the aromatic balance and natural freshness of this great terroir.
The nose is of bewitching richness: old rose, candied citrus peel, saffron, roasted exotic fruits, quince paste and flower honey. A sumptuous aromatic depth, perfectly typical of Goldert in great botrytised vintages. On the palate, the liqueur is dense, silky, almost creamy, yet always carried by a saline mineral framework that brings relief and tension. The purity of the botrytis, fine and noble, avoids any heaviness and extends the finish towards notes of sweet spices and candied fruits.
A wine for meditation, of remarkable longevity: it can still age another 20 years at minimum, gaining progressively in aromatic complexity and spicy nuances. At table, reserve it for exceptional pairings: aged blue cheese, dessert with exotic fruits, tart with candied citrus, or simply on its own, as a complete work unto itself.
