A rare and noble expression from the mythical Goldert slope, combining aromatic richness with remarkable mineral tension.
Alsace Grand Cru Goldert Gewurztraminer Grains Nobles 2013 Domaine Ernest Burn
From the mythical limestone slope of Goldert, this Gewurztraminer Grains Nobles 2013 represents one of the rarest and most noble expressions from Domaine Ernest Burn. The vintage, marked by slow and steady botrytisation, allowed exceptional concentration whilst preserving the aromatic balance and natural freshness of this great terroir.
The nose is of captivating richness: old rose, candied citrus peel, saffron, roasted exotic fruits, quince paste and flower honey. A sumptuous aromatic depth, perfectly typical of Goldert in great botrytised vintages. On the palate, the liqueur is dense, silky, almost creamy, yet always carried by a saline mineral backbone that brings relief and tension. The purity of botrytis, fine and noble, avoids any heaviness and prolongs the finish towards notes of sweet spices and candied fruits.
A wine for contemplation, of remarkable longevity: it can be kept another 20 years at least, gaining progressively in aromatic complexity and spiced nuance. At table, reserve it for exceptional pairings: aged blue cheese, dessert with exotic fruits, candied citrus tart, or simply alone, as a work in itself.
