Nuits-Saint-Georges Blanc 1er Cru La Perrière 2022, Domaine Henri Gouges reveals the tension and salinity of a great limestone terroir.
Nuits-Saint-Georges Blanc 1er Cru La Perrière 2022, Domaine Henri Gouges

A historic Nuits-Saint-Georges domaine founded in the early twentieth century, Domaine Henri Gouges remains a reference point on the Côte de Nuits. Long known for its great ageworthy reds, the domaine has also shown remarkable skill in revealing the potential of Chardonnay on certain exceptional climates. Vineyard work is conducted with rigour, respecting terroir, and fermentation and ageing favour precision, balance, and the capacity to evolve in the cellar.

The 1er Cru La Perrière is one of the rare white-producing terroirs in Nuits-Saint-Georges. Its very chalky, stony soils bring tension, directness, and a marked mineral signature. The 2022 vintage, sunny and concentrated, delivered fully ripe fruit while retaining fine natural freshness.

Fermentation and barrel ageing, handled with mastery, structure the wine without excess oak. The whole gains in complexity and depth while keeping a precise and energetic backbone.

On the nose, aromas of white-fleshed fruit, ripe pear and citrus emerge, accompanied by lightly toasted notes and the stony character typical of this climat. The palate opens broad and dense, then tightens around a mineral spine that drives tension and length. The finish is long and saline, confirming its potential for ageing.

A great white from the Côte de Nuits, suited to shellfish, roasted turbot, Bresse poultry, or aged cheeses. Already expressive after aeration, it will evolve with elegance over 10 to 15 years.
