A rare white from the Côte de Nuits, Henri Richard's 2021 is precise and elegant, built on fresh stone fruits and mineral tension in pure Burgundian style.
Côte de Nuits Villages 2021, Domaine Henri Richard

Domaine Henri Richard's Côte de Nuits Villages 2021 is a rare white from the Côte de Nuits, made entirely from Pinot Blanc. From a quiet family domaine respected by demanding collectors, this wine reflects an artisanal, terroir-driven approach with attentive viticulture and restrained cellar work designed to preserve the character of the vintage and the place.

The vines sit in the Morey St Denis sector on the clay-chalk soils typical of the Côte de Nuits. This terroir gives the wine balanced structure, natural freshness, and precise fruit expression. Hand-harvested grapes are vinified traditionally with indigenous yeasts. Ageing in oak for around twelve months remains measured, accompanying the wine without masking the finesse of the fruit.

The robe glows pale gold. The nose opens with crisp white fruit aromas, peach and honey, joined by subtle spice and a light floral note. On the palate, the wine is elegant and harmonious, with fine texture, minerality, and a persistent finish marked by freshness. The overall picture is a classical, precise reading of the Côte de Nuits, both approachable and intense.

This wine pairs beautifully with roasted white meats, poultry, grilled fish, or mushroom-based dishes. It's approachable now for its fruit and balance, yet offers keeping potential of 5 to 8 years, during which it will gain complexity and depth.
