Dry fruits, honey, gentle spices and elegant woody notes. A Cognac of great tradition from Ferrand, rich, silky and beautifully complex.
The Cognac Ferrand 10 Générations is a rare tribute to ten generations of vignerons and distillers, a 100% Grande Champagne blend that reveals the full character of a great terroir patiently nurtured over centuries.

A bottling presented by the Ferrand house, distilled from 100% Grande Champagne cognac and 100% Ugni Blanc, distilled with the lees and aged in French oak barrels, approximately 20% of which are ex-Sauternes casks. Bottled at 46% abv. This 10 Générations cuvée honours Mademoiselle Henriette, the last direct descendant of the Ferrand line, keeper of a family memory passed down since 1630 in the heart of the Cognac vineyard.

Ageing and origin

Matured in French oak barrels with a significant portion of ex-Sauternes casks, this Grande Champagne cognac marries the floral finesse and length typical of the Cognac premier cru with a touch of candied sweetness inherited from the great sweet wine. Distillation with the lees, a rare and demanding practice, brings additional aromatic density and a richer texture to the spirit, whilst ageing in Sauternes casks enriches the profile with a delicate honeyed note. Grande Champagne remains the most prestigious cru in the Cognac region, renowned for the finesse and exceptional ageing potential of its spirits.

Tasting profile

On the nose, a floral freshness of lime blossom and vine flower mingles with a touch of clear honey, notes of stone fruits and a whisper of sweet vanilla inherited from the Sauternes cask. Beneath these delicate layers, the depth typical of Grande Champagne asserts itself, carried by a subtle note of rancio and polished wood. A hint of dried apricot and a brioche note add further complexity, a testament to the lees distillation. On the palate, the cognac is silky and harmonious, balancing floral finesse with discreet candied sweetness. The palate reveals notes of stone fruits, honey, fine spices and a gentle woody note that structures the whole. The finish is long and elegant, with a final floral and lightly honeyed note.

The house

Ferrand is a Cognac house founded in 1989 by Alexandre Gabriel, but whose family origins trace back to 1630 in the Cognac vineyard. The 10 Générations cuvée pays direct homage to this lineage, embodied by Mademoiselle Henriette, the last direct heir, whose memory and passion inspired this demanding Grande Champagne blend.

Tasting and food pairing

This Cognac Ferrand 10 Générations is best enjoyed neat in a tulip glass at room temperature, to fully appreciate the floral finesse and sweetness from the Sauternes ageing. It may also be savoured with a touch of pure water to reveal greater aromatic complexity. It will find fine harmony with a dessert of stone fruits, warm foie gras, aged soft cheese or honeyed pastry, whose sweetness will respond beautifully to the floral finesse and candied character of this cuvée.
