A true terroir Aligoté from Château de Chamilly, where this rare and refined white shows its full character.
Bouzeron Les Bouchines 2023 – Château de Chamilly
At the heart of Côte Chalonnaise, the Bouzeron appellation is Burgundy's sole communal appellation dedicated to Aligoté, a rare and refined expression of this often underestimated white variety. Château de Chamilly, a historic domaine in Chamilly, tends its Bouzeron parcels with particular attention, approaching the vines and their ripeness with terroir-centred care.
The cuvée Les Bouchines 2023 comes from a parcel exposed west and northwest on argilo-calcareous and oolitic limestone soils, planted with Aligoté over 45 years old, which brings fine concentration and affirmed personality to the wine. After gentle pressing, fermentation and ageing are conducted with care, partly in large wooden vats on lees, to preserve the freshness, minerality and energy inherent to the vintage.
The 2023 vintage reveals itself on the nose with highly expressive character, where fresh citrus, white fruits and mineral nuances of Burgundian soil intertwine. On the palate, the attack is frank, the wine develops with supple and fleshy texture, supported by lively acidity that structures the whole and extends the saline and stimulating finish.
This Bouzeron 2023 embodies a modern and refined version of Aligoté, tonic, precise and suited to both gastronomic and convivial enjoyment. It pairs perfectly with escargots, oysters or fresh shellfish, but also with savoury appetisers, ham in parsley jelly or aged Comté.
Serve cool (around 8–10 °C) to fully appreciate its freshness and aromatic purity. This wine can be enjoyed now while offering interesting ageing potential over 3 to 8 years, gaining nuance with time.
A Burgundy white of great expressivity, offering an elegant and vibrant reading of Aligoté in a promising vintage.
