White flowers, citrus and fresh minerality. Precise Chardonnay from Aline Beauné, fresh, balanced and very approachable.
The Bourgogne Blanc 2023 from Domaine Aline Beauné is an entry-level cuvée that is modest only in its appellation. Behind this regional Bourgogne lies the same meticulous care, the same biological rigour and the same love of Chardonnay that have built the growing reputation of this domaine founded in 2018 at Montagny-lès-Buxy. For anyone seeking to discover Aline Beauné's precise and fruity style without the price constraints of Premier Cru, this wine represents a rare and genuine opportunity.
The appellation and terroir
Made from Chardonnay grown on the communes of the Côte Chalonnaise, this Bourgogne Blanc benefits from the same geological and climatic environment that defines the excellence of the Montagny appellation: clay-limestone soils resting on a marly and Jurassic substrate, east to south-east exposure, and a temperate climate with a slight continental tendency that naturally preserves the freshness and aromatic tension of the variety. Farmed in organic conversion, the vineyard is worked without herbicides or chemical treatments, with particular attention paid to the natural balance of the plant. This soil-respecting approach, combined with winemaking without excessive intervention, produces a frank, pure and expressive Chardonnay that faithfully reflects its Burgundian origin.
Tasting profile
The colour is pale yellow with green hues, clear and inviting. The nose is fresh and direct, with aromas of white fruits such as green apple, pear and vineyard peach, accompanied by light floral notes and a hint of citrus. A subtle chalky minerality adds depth and hints at the calcareous nature of the terroir. On the palate, the wine is supple, fruity and highly drinkable: the acidity is fresh and well-integrated, the body is light and elegant, and the finish is clean and fruity, leaving an impression of honesty and sincerity. A wine of immediate pleasure, made for the table and sharing, combining approachability with genuine Burgundian character.
The domaine
Aline Beauné founded her domaine in 2018 at Montagny-lès-Buxy, following 13 years leading the winemaking at a respected Côte de Beaune estate. When the cooperative contract for the 5.5 hectares of family vines ended, she seized the opportunity to create her own domaine, with the ambition of producing wines of the highest quality from the terroirs of Montagny and the Côte Chalonnaise. Committed to organic farming conversion, she eliminated herbicides and chemical treatments, favouring meticulous vineyard work and biodynamic preparations to revitalise the soils. In the cellar, ageing is conducted mainly in stainless steel to preserve the freshness and fruit typical of this Chardonnay terroir.
Food pairings
This Bourgogne Blanc pairs beautifully with shellfish such as oysters, moules marinières and grey shrimp, grilled fish or fish en papillote, fresh goat's cheese tart, white asparagus with mousseline sauce or a spring vegetable starter. Served chilled between 10 and 12 °C, it is also perfect as an aperitif, with a few gougères or a selection of fine charcuterie.
