White flowers, citrus and fresh minerality. A precise and digestible Chardonnay from Domaine Aline Beauné, beautifully balanced and approachable.
The Bourgogne Blanc 2024 from Domaine Aline Beauné is an ideal entry point into the world of a winemaker whose wines Jancis Robinson MW praises for their perfume, crystalline structure and absolute precision. Rated 91/100 by the Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France 2026, this organic Chardonnay shines through its accuracy and ageing, vibrant and well-balanced, a magnificent Burgundy wine that pairs easily with food. Behind this regional appellation lies the same meticulous care, the same biological rigour and the same love of Chardonnay that underpin the growing reputation of this domaine, founded in 2018 at Montagny-lès-Buxy.
Terroir and vineyard
Made from Chardonnay grown on the communes of the Côte Chalonnaise, this Bourgogne Blanc benefits from the same geological and climatic environment that defines excellence in the Montagny appellation: clay-limestone soils resting on a Jurassic marl substrate, east to south-east exposure, and a temperate climate with a slight continental tendency that naturally preserves the freshness and aromatic tension of the variety. Managed under organic conversion with some biodynamic practices to enliven the soils, the vineyard is worked without herbicides or chemical treatments, with particular attention paid to the plant's natural balance. This soil-respectful approach, combined with non-interventionist winemaking, gives rise to a frank, pure and expressive Chardonnay that faithfully reflects its Burgundian origins. Ageing combines stainless steel and old barrels to preserve the freshness and fruit typical of the terroir.
Tasting profile
The colour is pale yellow with green highlights, clear and bright. The nose is fresh and direct, with white fruit aromas, green apple, pear and vineyard peach, complemented by light floral notes and a hint of citrus. A light chalky minerality adds depth and reveals the chalky nature of the terroir. On the palate, the wine is supple, fruity and very approachable: the acidity is fresh and well-integrated, the body light and elegant, and the clean fruity finish leaves an impression of naturalness and sincerity. Lightly buttery notes from the ageing add welcome complexity without ever masking the fruit. A wine of immediate pleasure, made for the table and sharing, combining accessibility with genuine Burgundian character.
The domaine
Aline Beauné founded her domaine in 2018 at Montagny-lès-Buxy, after fifteen years leading winemaking at Château de la Crée in Santenay. A graduate in oenology from Dijon, she immediately began organic conversion and some biodynamic practices to enliven the soils. On 5.5 hectares carefully tended between Saint-Vallerin and Montagny, she produces wines of a consistency and precision that quickly impressed Jancis Robinson MW, who identifies her as a producer to watch closely.
Food pairings
This Bourgogne Blanc pairs beautifully with shellfish, oysters, moules marinières, grey shrimps, grilled or en papillote fish, a tart with fresh goat's cheese, white asparagus with mousseline sauce or a spring vegetable starter. Served cool between 10 and 12°C, it will also be perfect as an aperitif, with some gougères or a fine charcuterie board.
