Bright and citrussy, with fresh citrus and mineral character. A precise, digestible Aligoté from Pataille, taut, saline and thoroughly appealing.
Bourgogne Aligoté 2023 Domaine Sylvain Pataille

In Marsannay, Sylvain Pataille is recognised as one of the finest interpreters of the northern Côte de Nuits terroirs and a passionate advocate for Aligoté, a variety he elevates to a remarkable level of expression. Farmed organically, his vineyard receives meticulous parcel-by-parcel attention, with controlled yields and a constant pursuit of balance. Vinifications are precise and restrained, honouring the character of both the variety and vintage.

Made from different parcels on clay-limestone soils, this 2023 Bourgogne Aligoté captures the freshness and tension characteristic of Marsannay. The 2023 vintage, sunny yet balanced, offers generous ripeness while retaining dynamic natural acidity.

Fermentation and ageing, partly in barrel, proceed carefully to add structure without masking the Aligoté's natural vivacity.

On the nose, fresh lemon, crisp apple and white flowers emerge, lifted by a whisper of almond and chalky minerality. The palate is direct and energetic, supported by precise acidity and a fuller body than the appellation might lead you to expect. The finish is saline and persistent, confirming the wine's seriousness and depth.

An Aligoté with real character, ideal as an aperitif, with oysters, seafood, ceviche or fresh cheese. Drink now for its brilliant tension, with ageing potential of 4 to 6 years.
