Bright and fleshy Syrah from the Rhône's northern reaches, with fine texture and vivid fruit.
The Crozes-Hermitage Les Saviaux 2023 from Le Vieux Murier is a red wine made exclusively from Syrah, grown on the stony and clay-limestone terroirs of the Crozes-Hermitage appellation, in the heart of the northern Rhône valley. This cuvée emphasises the authentic expression of the grape in an accessible and precise style, faithful to the identity of the terroir.
The domaine is run by Florian Buit, a passionate young vigneron who developed his experience alongside great references of the Rhône valley, notably at the prestigious domaine Jean-Louis Chave in Hermitage. This demanding training is reflected in his rigorous approach to the vineyard and in his desire to produce wines that are precise, sincere and respectful of terroir.
The vines benefit from a favourable climate and fine exposure that allow optimal ripening of the grapes. Vinification favours gentle extractions to preserve the brightness of the fruit and the finesse of Syrah, followed by measured ageing that brings structure and complexity without dominating the wine.
The 2023 vintage reveals an expressive aromatic profile, marked by notes of blackberry, blackcurrant and dark cherry, accompanied by characteristic touches of black pepper, violet and spice. On the palate, the attack is supple and generous, carried by juicy matter and fine tannins that structure the whole with elegance.
The finish, fresh and persistent, extends the flavours of dark fruit and spice with fine harmony. A gourmand and well-balanced Crozes-Hermitage, ideal with grilled meats, a rib of beef, a duck breast or braised dishes. It can be enjoyed in its youth for its bright fruit, whilst also evolving favourably for a few years in the cellar.
