A refined peat character, never heavy, accompanied by maritime smoke and elegant balance, for those discovering or deepening their relationship with peat.
Whisky Peat Chimney, Wemyss Malt
An independent Scottish family house, Wemyss Malts has built its reputation on carefully constructed single malt blends centred around a precise aromatic profile. Each cuvée bears an evocative name reflecting its character. Peat Chimney celebrates a smoky, peaty style while preserving balance and elegance.
Crafted from a selection of malts drawn primarily from Islay and other coastal regions, this blend seeks to express refined peat, never overbearing. Ageing in oak casks brings roundness and complexity, softening the smoky dimension.
On the nose, it reveals delicate smoke, cold ash and maritime spray, accompanied by touches of lemon, vanilla and biscuity malt. The palate is well-balanced, blending supple peat, yellow fruits, honey and a subtle salinity. The texture remains harmonious, with persistent yet controlled smoke. The finish is long and elegantly peaty, leaving a saline and lightly spiced impression.
An approachable whisky for discovering peat, while offering sufficient depth to please experienced enthusiasts. Best enjoyed neat or with a touch of water to reveal all its nuances.
