Fine, persistent bubbles with citrus, white flowers and chalk. A precise and elegant Blanc de Blancs from Marie Copinet.
The Champagne Blanc de Blancs Cuvée Victoire from Marie Copinet is the signature cuvée and most approachable expression from this family house in Villenauxe-la-Grande, offering Champagne Blanc de Blancs in its purest form. A cuvée full of energy, its blend of three consecutive vintages allows the domaine to release each year a wine of remarkable finesse and freshness, with exceptionally fine bubbles. Cuvée Victoire embodies the Copinet family's pursuit of perfection: three declared vintages, carefully assembled. Round, harmonious and luminous, it offers well-defined acidity and a chalky mineral foundation.

Terroir and assemblage

Cuvée Victoire is 100% Chardonnay, a non-vintage blend of three consecutive vintages. The Chardonnays come primarily from the Sézannais and its chalky, limestone terroirs that Marie Copinet has inherited since 1975. The house's vineyard, with parcels at Montgenost, Villenauxe-la-Grande, Verpillières-sur-Ource, Cuchery and Châtillon-sur-Marne, offers remarkable terroir diversity whose complexity speaks directly through the blend. These chalky, limestone soils of the Sézannais are precisely what give this Blanc de Blancs its mineral foundation and distinctive tension, setting it apart from the richer, butterier Chardonnay expressions of Côte des Blancs: here chalk dictates the character, bringing verticality, salinity and freshness that give the cuvée its vitality and energy. The three-vintage assemblage is a deliberate stylistic choice that ensures consistency and complexity year after year. Grown without herbicides or pesticides and certified Terra Vitis, the vines receive constant attention to soil health.

Tasting profile

The colour is luminous golden lemon with crystalline clarity. The bubble is exceptionally fine, light and persistent. The nose reveals immediate freshness and delicacy: white orchard flowers, Asian pear, peach skin and blanched almond open with remarkable spontaneity and precision, accompanied by a light note of ginger and a touch of light toast from the ageing. Chalky minerality gradually emerges in the glass, bringing depth and tension to a bouquet of floral and fruity delicacy. On the palate, the cuvée is round, harmonious and luminous, with well-defined acidity and a chalky foundation that structures the whole with elegance. The texture is creamy and silky, fine bubbles caress the palate lightly. The finish is long, saline and mineral, with a persistence and freshness that immediately invites another glass. Drink until 2029.

The house

Founded in 1975 by Jacques Copinet in Montgenost in the Sézannais, the house is today guided by his daughter Marie-Laure and her husband Alexandre Kowal-Copinet. The 10.5 hectares of vineyard, certified organic since the 2021 harvest, are geographically scattered, revealing a remarkable variety of terroirs. Vinification is unobtrusive and unhurried, with wines aged in various vessels according to the cuvée: barrels, large wooden vats and clay eggs. The house distinguishes itself through refined, sensual and sophisticated Champagnes that place terroir and variety typicity before all other considerations.

Food pairing

Its elegance and length accompany refined aperitifs and shellfish beautifully. This Blanc de Blancs pairs wonderfully with fine oysters, steamed scallops, citrus-marinated sea bass tartare, cold langoustines with homemade mayonnaise, sole meunière or fresh goat cheeses such as Sainte-Maure de Touraine. Served between 8 and 10°C, it reveals all the chalky finesse, floral vivacity and natural energy of a Champagne Blanc de Blancs crafted with care and conviction by a winemaking family from the Sézannais.
