A 100% Chardonnay Champagne of exquisite bubble finesse, the signature cuvée of Maison Ruinart.
The Blanc de Blancs Champagne from Maison Ruinart is the purest and most luminous cuvée from this house founded in 1729, and the finest expression of a philosophy that has guided Ruinart since its origins: Chardonnay above all else. Made exclusively from Chardonnay, the house's signature grape, Ruinart Blanc de Blancs is a delicate wine balanced between freshness and roundness. Both visionary in its craft and singular on the palate, this blend of carefully selected Chardonnay crus from different terroirs offers a fruity experience with citrus notes. Aromatic freshness in elegant simplicity.
The blend and terroir
Ruinart Blanc de Blancs comprises Chardonnays from 25 to 30 different crus, sourced mainly from the Côte des Blancs, Montagne de Reims, Sézannais, and Vallée de la Vesle. The majority comes from Premier Cru vineyards of the Côte des Blancs, Avize, Cramant, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, and Montagne de Reims. Harvesting is entirely by hand to preserve grape quality. Vinification takes place in stainless steel to maintain purity and freshness. Malolactic fermentation is carried out to soften the profile and round the acidity. Reserve wines make up 20 to 25% to add complexity and ensure consistency of house style. Ageing on lees lasts 2 to 3 years before disgorgement. Once the grape bunches are carefully selected, the crus are vinified separately then blended, before bottles go into the cellars where time works its magic.
Tasting profile
The colour is a beautiful pale yellow with golden and green reflections. The effervescence is persistently fine. On the nose, the bouquet is intense and reveals aromas of fresh fruit such as citrus and exotic fruits evoking pineapple. After 2 to 3 years of ageing on lees, Ruinart Blanc de Blancs reveals a luminous and refined profile, with notes of citrus, white flowers and exotic fruit, supported by a fine and delicate bubble. Its delicacy is marked by white flowers, citrus and white fruit notes. This Champagne embodies the purity of Chardonnay, capturing the essence of this noble grape with elegant simplicity and refined authenticity. On the palate, the texture is both lively and creamy, with the mineral tension characteristic of the great Champagne chalks that extends the finish with clarity and elegance. A pure, airy and versatile Champagne.
The house
Maison Ruinart, founded in 1729, is the oldest Champagne house in the world, and its history is closely tied to the evolution of the Champagne region. Since the 1980s, the house's experts have worked tirelessly to refine and define the Ruinart style, with Chardonnay as the absolute compass. The innovative Second Skin case, eco-designed, offers a 60% reduction in carbon footprint, made from 100% paper sourced from sustainably managed European forests. Frédéric Panaïotis, cellar master since 2007, is the guardian of continuity and excellence across the entire range.
Food pairing
With its bright freshness and airy profile, Ruinart Blanc de Blancs is perfect as an aperitif, accompanied by fine oysters, lightly seared scallops or white fish carpaccio. At table, it enhances delicate dishes such as sole fillet, sea bream tartare or white fish ceviche. For an original pairing, it can accompany fresh goat cheese or a plate of sashimi, which will highlight its tension and purity. Served between 8 and 9°C, it will reveal all the citrus liveliness and crystalline purity of a Blanc de Blancs from the world's oldest Champagne house.
