A fine Chardonnay from the Côte de Beaune, with depth and a beautifully rounded palate, from Domaine Lejeune.
Bourgogne Chardonnay Les Grandes Carelles 2023 Domaine Lejeune
With the arrival of Louis de Belleroche and this first 2023 vintage, Domaine Lejeune enters a new stylistic era, more precise and contemporary, while remaining true to the Burgundian identity of its terroirs. The cuvée Les Grandes Carelles is a fine expression of this approach: a pure Chardonnay, finely crafted, that brings forward freshness and clarity of fruit.
The nose shows ripe citrus, white apple, and delicate floral notes, touched by a subtle chalky minerality. The palate is elegant, straight, and energetic, with perfectly integrated ageing that adds volume without heaviness. The 2023 vintage, particularly well-balanced, allows here for restrained maturity, giving a vibrant, flavourful wine with a clean, saline finish.
A Bourgogne of real presence, precise and modern in spirit, that clearly places the domaine on an upward quality trajectory. Drink now for its luminous purity, or over the next 3 to 5 years as it gains patina and complexity.
