An elegant and intense expression of this confidential Premier Cru, rooted in Vergisson's limestone terroir.
Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru En France 2024 Domaine Barraud
Situated at Vergisson, at the foot of the famous Roche de Solutré, Domaine Barraud is one of the most precise and consistent signatures of the Mâconnais. Led by the Barraud family for several generations, the domaine is today directed by Julien and Anaïs Barraud, who continue meticulous work in the vineyard and cellar to reveal all the complexity of the great limestone terroirs of Pouilly-Fuissé. The vineyard, cultivated with close attention to the natural balance of soils and vine, allows the production of wines that are at once precise, elegant and deeply rooted in their terroir.
The cuvée "En France" comes from a climat classified as Premier Cru since the official revision of the appellation in 2020. Situated on well-exposed hillsides around Vergisson, this terroir rests on limestone-rich soils full of fossils that bring tension and minerality to the Chardonnay. The 2024 vintage particularly highlights the natural freshness of the sector, with perfectly balanced levels of ripeness.
Vinification is conducted with precision to preserve the purity of the fruit and the expression of place, delicate pressing, fermentation in oak barrels with a measured proportion of new wood, then ageing on fine lees for several months to bring depth and texture while preserving the wine's energy.
The wine opens onto a fine and complex bouquet mingling white flowers, ripe citrus, vineyard peach and nuances of fresh hazelnut. On the palate, the balance is remarkable, the amplitude and appeal of Chardonnay combine with beautiful mineral tension typical of the great limestone terroirs of Vergisson. The finish is long, precise and saline.
A Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru that is at once elegant and structured, which will pair beautifully with noble fish, shellfish, creamed poultry or Burgundian cheeses such as Brillat-Savarin or aged Comté.
Cellaring potential, 6 to 10 years.
