Corton Renardes Grand Cru 2018 Domaine Michel Gay

The Corton Renardes Grand Cru 2018 from Domaine Michel Gay et Fils embodies all the power and nobility of this emblematic climat of Aloxe-Corton, renowned for producing wines that are deep, structured and built for ageing. Situated on rich and well-exposed clay-limestone soils, the Les Renardes climat offers here an intense and racy expression of Burgundian Pinot Noir.

From a sunny, perfectly mastered vintage, this Grand Cru Corton 2018 reveals an ample and complex nose, marked by aromas of ripe dark fruits, cassis and black cherry, heightened by notes of spices, liquorice and light wood nuances perfectly integrated. On aeration, touches of undergrowth and leather enrich the aromatic palette.

The palate is dense, structured and profound, carried by powerful yet elegant tannins, fine concentration and generous fruit typical of the vintage. The balance remains remarkable thanks to underlying freshness that stretches the tasting towards a long, persistent and mineral finish.

This Corton Grand Cru Les Renardes 2018 is a characterful wine, ideal for accompanying fine dishes such as red meats in sauce, game or beef bourguignon. It will gain in complexity after several years in the cellar and may evolve gracefully over a period of 10 to 15 years and beyond.
