Fine red fruits, rose and delicate spices. An elegant, silky Chambolle from Lignier, precise, fresh and marked by beautiful aromatic finesse.
The Chambolle-Musigny Les Bussières 2023 from Domaine Hubert Lignier is one of the domaine's most seductive and floral cuvées, from a lieu-dit in Chambolle-Musigny whose intrinsic quality is widely recognised as deserving Premier Cru status. Les Bussières sits just across the Morey border, next to the Premier Cru La Bussière. Laurent Lignier works old vines in this outstanding parcel to create a wine of remarkable purity. A Chambolle of such elegance, floral finesse and minerality that it ranks among the most captivating and precious wines in the domaine's range.

Terroir and vineyard

Les Bussières is a lieu-dit at the northern edge of the Chambolle-Musigny appellation, immediately bordering Morey-Saint-Denis, directly opposite Morey's Premier Cru La Bussière. This geographical proximity is significant: Les Bussières shares the same limestone and marl geology as La Bussière, which is why specialists regard this lieu-dit as worthy of Premier Cru status despite its village classification. The soil is shallow clay-limestone over a base of calcareous marls and stony debris that impart remarkable mineral tension and aromatic precision to the Pinot Noir. The vines, around fifty years old depending on plantings, have been certified organic since the 2019 vintage. This parcel forms part of the domaine's 2.5 hectares under biodynamic management. Harvesting is manual with strict selection. Winemaking is unmanipulative: fermentation with a proportion of whole bunches, wild yeasts, and gentle maceration for approximately three weeks. Ageing on lees lasts 21 months in French oak barrels, without filtration or fining, bottled by gravity.

Tasting profile

The colour is a delicate ruby with violet glints, luminous and transparent in a way that immediately announces the wine's elegance and finesse. The nose displays striking floral delicacy, the hallmark of the finest Chambolle-Musigny: aromas of peony, fresh rose and violet impose themselves with remarkable seduction and precision, accompanied by fresh red fruits, raspberry, cherry and redcurrant, and fine, precise calcareous minerality. With aeration, lightly earthy and spiced notes enrich this bouquet with growing complexity. On the palate, the texture is silky and delicate, the tannins of absolute lace-like fineness, the acidity fresh and well integrated, bringing drive, tension and length. The substance is light and precise, with an balance and elegance that recall the finest expressions of Chambolle. The finish is long, floral and lightly mineral, with persistence and purity that confirm the calibre of this lieu-dit and the precision of Laurent Lignier's work.

The domaine

Hubert Lignier founded the domaine in the 1970s in Morey-Saint-Denis. Following his death in 2004, his brother Laurent took over from 2006. The estate comprises 11 hectares of vines certified organic since the 2019 vintage, with an average age of 50 years. The philosophy is consistent: to create authentic, sensual wines that express their respective terroir, with an absolute conviction that 75 percent of wine quality comes from vineyard quality.

Food pairings

This Chambolle-Musigny Les Bussières pairs beautifully with roasted truffle fowl, wood mushroom pigeon, herb-roasted lamb, partridge with cabbage, or aged cheeses such as Époisses or Cîteaux. Served between 15 and 16°C, with 45 minutes of decanting recommended in its youth, it will reveal the full floral delicacy, mineral tension and absolute elegance of a Chambolle-Musigny village that performs at Premier Cru level.
