An intense single malt with briny and generous character, finished in Palo Cortado sherry.
The Cadenhead Benrinnes 2010, 11 years old, was selected from the distillery on Speyside. Matured ten years in ex-Bourbon casks, this single malt then benefited from a finish in ex-Palo Cortado sherry cask. Cadenhead reveals a fresh perspective on this Speyside character.
The nose carries maritime brine and subtle peat smoke. On the palate, dates and apricots unfold beneath smoke. In the finish, grains turn toasted and evolve towards ashy notes. A fine expression of Benrinnes in which the Palo Cortado cask influence shows itself through delicate aromas of dried fruits and strawberry in the finale.
