Rich and powerful, dry fruits, sherry, spice and oak notes. Iconic Glenfarclas at 60°, cask strength, intense and deeply complex.
Glenfarclas 105 is one of Scotland's most emblematic single malts, the absolute reference for cask strength whisky lovers, bottled since 1968 at 60 degrees, exactly 105 degrees in the old British proof that gave it its name.

A bottling from Glenfarclas distillery, family-owned and independent for six generations, distilled in Speyside and matured in Oloroso sherry casks before bottling at cask strength with no age statement, no added colour and no chill filtration. Glenfarclas remains one of the rare great Speyside distilleries to stay entirely in the hands of one family since 1865, and this 105 stands as the most intense expression and the truest to the house's sherry identity.

Ageing and origin

Matured exclusively in Oloroso sherry casks, this single malt marries the fruity richness and rounded maltiness characteristic of Speyside with the opulent generosity of Spanish sherry wood steeped over time. Bottling at 60 degrees without chill filtration preserves all the richness of natural oils and aromatic complexity of the spirit, delivering an expression of rare intensity and depth. Situated at the foot of Ben Rinnes in Speyside, Glenfarclas has distilled since 1836 and distinguishes itself through the use of first-quality sherry casks, purchased directly from Spain, as the immutable aromatic signature of the house.

Tasting profile

On the nose, a wealth of dry fruits, raisins, figs and dates mingle with dark chocolate, a touch of Spanish sherry and a hint of walnut wood. Beneath these indulgent layers, the rounded maltiness characteristic of Speyside asserts itself, carried by subtle notes of caramel and vanilla. A whisper of aged leather and a touch of spice add further complexity, fully revealed by the elevated strength. On the palate, the whisky is dense and opulent, balancing sherry richness with generous warmth yet remarkably restrained. The palate reveals notes of preserved dark fruits, chocolate, spice and a light woody bitterness that structures the whole. The finish is long and warm, with lingering dry fruit and sherry notes.

The house

Glenfarclas is one of the rare great Scottish distilleries to remain entirely independent and family-owned for six generations, property of the Grant family since 1865. Its commitment to maturation in first-quality sherry casks and bottling without chill filtration makes it one of Speyside's unmissable references, and the 105 is its most intense expression and truest to this heritage.

Tasting and pairings

This Glenfarclas 105 is best enjoyed with a few drops of pure water in a tulip glass, at room temperature, to tame the generous strength and reveal all the sherry richness and complexity of dry fruits. It pairs beautifully with intense dark chocolate desserts, fruit cake, aged blue cheese or a full-bodied cigar, whose richness will answer perfectly to the sherry generosity and woody depth characteristic of this legendary expression.
