A monopole of ancient vines brought into focus by the gifted Jean-Marie Chaland, this Clos du Buc reveals the calcaire soul of Mâconnais Chardonnay.
Viré Clessé Clos du Buc Monopole 2022 Domaine Jean-Marie Chaland

At the heart of the Mâconnais, Domaine Jean-Marie Chaland crafts precise, honest wines rooted in the identity of Viré Clessé's limestone terroirs. The Clos du Buc, the domaine's monopole, enjoys a privileged situation and argilo-limestone soils that give Chardonnay tension, purity and depth.

The 2022 vintage, generous and well-balanced, allowed optimal maturity while preserving freshness and structure. Thoughtful vinification and ageing on fine lees bring complexity and relief, without masking the mineral expression of the cru.

The colour is pale gold with luminous reflections. The nose reveals elegant aromas of ripe pear, white peach and citrus, accompanied by floral notes and a subtle buttery, lightly toasted touch. On the palate, the attack is ample and precise, driven by fine tension and silky texture. The finish is long and saline, underlining the mineral signature of Clos du Buc.

Serve around 11–12°C. Perfect with fish in sauce, noble shellfish, creamed poultry or aged goat cheese. Its ageing potential of 6 to 10 years will allow it to gain complexity and depth.
