Red fruits, garrigue and spice from Pascal Chalon, a fresh and digestible wine from Vaucluse, supple and truly rewarding.
Visan La Petite Ourse 2023 is an emblematic cuvée from Pascal Chalon, a committed vigneron working the heights of Visan in the heart of Vaucluse. Farming organically and inspired by biodynamic principles, he shapes living wines that are precise and deeply rooted in their terroir, guided by an artisanal, minimalist hand.
This cuvée comes from parcels worked without chemical inputs, built on a blend led predominantly by Grenache with Syrah in support. The argilo-calcareous soils and Mediterranean climate, tempered by altitude, bring balance and freshness. Harvesting is by hand, fermentation happens with wild yeasts, and the ageing favours a gentle approach to preserve the wine's natural fruit character.
The wine shows a luminous ruby robe. The nose opens onto aromas of crisp red fruits, cherry and raspberry, lifted by notes of soft spice and Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, the attack is supple, the fruit juicy and precise, carried by fresh acidity and fine tannins. The whole offers genuine drinkability while retaining real depth, the signature of Pascal Chalon's style.
Visan La Petite Ourse 2023 pairs beautifully with grilled meats, roasted poultry, simple braises or regional cooking with Provençal notes. Accessible now, it will evolve harmoniously over 5 to 6 years, gaining complexity without losing its generosity.
A Côtes du Rhône Villages of character, sincere and precise, that embodies perfectly the natural and exacting philosophy of the domaine.
