A Langhe Riesling with citrus aromas, driven by precise acidity and a very pure saline finish.
The Langhe Riesling Petracine 2024 from Aldo Vajra reveals a more discreet and remarkable facet of Piedmont, where Riesling finds singular expression under the visionary stewardship of the Vajra family. Cultivated on the heights of Vergne, at the heart of the Langhe, this wine bears witness to the domaine's precise and respectful work, farmed organically with careful attention to balanced purity.
The Petracine cuvée comes from parcels situated at altitude, on soils rich in marl and limestone, lending tension and minerality to the wine. The cool, ventilated climate favours slow ripening, preserving natural acidity and great aromatic finesse. Winemaking is deliberately non-interventionist, with ageing in stainless steel to preserve the most direct expression of the variety and terroir.
The nose reveals precise aromas of fresh citrus, green apple and white peach, completed by floral notes and a mineral touch evoking damp stone. On the palate, the attack is clean and incisive, driven by beautiful acidity and taut structure, balanced by gentle roundness. The finish is long, saline and refreshing, marked by great clarity.
A gastronomic Riesling, both elegant and vibrant, ideal with white fish, seafood, subtle Asian cuisine or fresh cheeses. Can be enjoyed now, but will gain complexity over 5 to 8 years of ageing.
