Velvet Fig 12 Year Old, Wemyss Malts
This Speyside single malt comes from Wemyss Malts, a house renowned for its sensory-led approach and precise selection of cask parcels. Each cuvée is named for its aromatic character, and Velvet Fig captures a silk-textured whisky built around ripe, indulgent fruit.
Aged 12 years in Oloroso casks, the spirit gains the richness and complexity that comes from generous wood contact.
The nose is intense and enveloping, offering ripe fig, dried fruit, candied raisin and caramel, layered with precious wood and soft spice. On the palate, the texture is round and velvety, with a concentrated core of fig, toffee and dark chocolate touched by a gently vinous note. The finish is long, warm and indulgent, shaped by dried fruit and spice.
An expressive, seductive single malt that suits those drawn to rich, smooth profiles. Best enjoyed neat, perhaps with a little air, as a meditation dram or after dinner.
Pairings: dark chocolate, dried fruit desserts, blue cheese, cigars.
