A bright, mineral red from a rising talent in the southern Rhône. Domaine Adrien Emond captures fresh dark fruit, rare elegance, and sunlit freshness in this compelling Séguret.
The Séguret Les Jardins 2025 from Domaine Adrien Emond is the signature cuvée of this discreet young domaine planted on one of the most compelling and underrated terroirs in the southern Rhône valley. Adrien Emond follows the best traditions of Séguret itself, working with clean fruit, gentle extraction, and minimal intervention in the cellar, producing a wine of remarkable freshness, appeal, and honest character for this appellation.
Terroir and vines
Séguret is among the most distinctive and precious Côtes du Rhône Villages appellations in Vaucluse, a medieval village set among France's most beautiful, tucked at the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail and sheltered from the wind, overlooking the Ouvèze valley on stony terraces and argilo-calcareous slopes resting on Tithonian limestone bedrock. This chalky, gravelly terroir drains naturally and faces well, giving the wines a freshness, mineral tension, and lightness that distinguish them from the richer, more jammy expressions of neighbouring appellations. The domaine's vines, principally Grenache and Syrah, are farmed with reasoned approach and constant attention to soil health and natural vine balance. Winemaking reflects the domaine's philosophy: gentle extraction to preserve fruit and freshness, controlled maceration, indigenous yeast fermentation, and restrained ageing in neutral vessels to let the terroir speak without artifice.
Tasting profile
The robe is bright ruby red with violet reflections, vivid and luminous. The nose is direct and expressive, showing fresh red fruit aromas of raspberry, cherry and redcurrant, with a whisper of garrigue and soft spice characteristic of the appellation. The cool nights of Séguret read clearly in the glass. On the palate, the texture is supple and appealing, with silky tannins from gentle, respectful extraction. Natural acidity brings drive and drinkability to light, precise fruit. The finish is fruited, spiced, and pleasantly persistent, with that mineral limestone note that marks Séguret's finest terroirs. An honest red built for immediate pleasure and unceremonious enjoyment.
The domaine
Adrien Emond embodies a new generation of winemakers who deliberately choose quiet precision over publicity and volume. Based in Séguret, he works in respect of terroir and fruit, with one aim only: to make wines that speak their origin with honesty and naturalness. Wines that don't seek to impress but to seduce, to convince, and to remind us that wine's greatest pleasures need no grand theatre.
Food pairings
This Séguret Les Jardins pairs beautifully with grilled lamb cutlets with garrigue herbs, roast chicken with thyme and rosemary, wood-fired pizza, Provençal vegetable gratin, fine charcuterie, or cheeses such as Pélardon or Banon. Served between 15 and 16 °C, lightly chilled, it will reveal all the fruited appeal and natural freshness of a terroir-driven Séguret from a winemaker who simply does things well.
