Red fruits, maquis and spiced notes. A fresh, mineral Corsican red from Sant Armettu, supple, digestible and deeply appealing.
The Corse Sartène Rouge Rosumarinu 2025 from Domaine Sant Armettu is the domaine's entry point red cuvée, yet it makes no compromises. Generous, elegant and immediately drinkable, this pure Sciaccarellu is a wine of pleasure and conviviality that reveals with candour and spontaneity all that this endemic Corsican grape can achieve at its most seductive on the granitic sands of Tizzano.

Terroir and the vines

The Rosumarinu red comes from the hillsides of Tizzano, on the argilo-granitic sands characteristic of far southern Corsica, those poor, sandy and well-draining soils whose silica richness and light texture give Sciaccarellu its aromatic openness, its gentle tannins and a natural freshness that makes it one of the most original red grapes of the French vineyard. Sciaccarellu is an endemic grape cultivated almost exclusively in far southern Corsica, on granite only, whose small, tightly-clustered berries naturally produce wines of pale colour, remarkable tannin finesse and an aromatic profile dominated by red fruits, soft spices and a characteristic white pepper note that is its absolute signature. On the granitic sands of Tizzano, swept by winds from the Gulf of Propriano, this grape reaches an expression of rare purity and generosity. Winemaking is conducted with absolute respect for fruit and variety: hand-harvested, destemmed and sorted both in vineyard and cellar, fermentation in oak foudres with punch-downs and pump-overs guided by sensory kinetics, a precise and minimally interventionist extraction that preserves the Sciaccarellu's natural finesse and softness. Ageing combines foudres and stainless steel tanks to add complexity without ever weighting the texture or masking the fruit. The domaine has been certified organic since 2021.

Tasting profile

The colour is a delicate red with ruby highlights, luminous and transparent, characteristic of Sciaccarellu on granitic terroir. The nose is immediately generous and appetising: aromas of wild strawberry, raspberry and fresh red fruits assert themselves with spontaneity and generosity, accompanied by a light white pepper note and soft spices, nutmeg and cinnamon, and a whisper of discrete, intoxicating Corsican garrigue. The palate is supple, round and deeply drinkable: the tannins are melted and of remarkable natural softness, the fresh acidity is well-integrated and brings momentum and clarity, and the fruity, generous substance unfolds with lightness and ease. The finish is long, pleasant and lightly spiced, with that return of red fruits and white pepper characteristic of the variety that immediately invites you to the next glass. A wine of immediate pleasure and without complication, one that reveals itself even more surprising with a few years in bottle, when it will gain in depth and complexity.

The domaine

The Seroin family has been established on these southern Corsican lands since 1964. Gilles Seroin created the domaine's first cellar in 1996, inspired by Burgundian models in his winemaking approaches. Across 40 hectares certified organic since 2021, he cultivates a broad palette of endemic Corsican grapes, Sciaccarellu, Vermentinu, Nielluccio, Biancu Ghjentile, Minustellu, Aleaticu, which his children Guillaume and Jeanne now help him to enhance. Bettane & Desseauve regularly salute the domaine as one of the most consistent and exacting references in the Sartène appellation, with an unblemished track record across all three colours.

Food pairings

This Corse Sartène Rouge Rosumarinu will pair beautifully with characterful Corsican charcuterie, coppa, lonzu, figatellu, veal rolls with small vegetables, fine country terrine, roasted quail with maquis herbs, wood-fired pizza or a board of aged Corsican cheeses. Served lightly chilled between 14 and 15°C, it will also be perfect as an aperitif among friends, in the direct and generous spirit the domaine has infused into this cuvée whose name, Rosumarinu, rosemary in Corsican, evokes the wild and intoxicating perfumes of southern Corsica.
