A sun-warmed, precise red blending ripe dark fruits, spices and freshness, shaped by Pascal Chalon's biodynamic finesse at Suze-la-Rousse.
Suze-la-Rousse La Grande Ourse 2023, Pascal Chalon
The La Grande Ourse cuvée 2023 from domaine Pascal Chalon captures with real conviction the potential of Suze-la-Rousse terroir, in the southern Rhône Valley. Farmed organically, this wine reflects the vignerons' committed vision: sincere, expressive wines deeply rooted in their environment.
The vines rest on clay-limestone soils mixed with rounded stones, bringing structure and freshness despite the southern climate. The blend, dominated by Grenache and completed with Syrah and Mourvèdre, is made with precision to preserve the brightness of the fruit and the wines' natural balance.
The nose opens onto ripe dark fruit, sweet spice and garrigue. The palate is ample and generous, carried by a fine density of matter, silky tannins and controlled freshness. The finish is long and spiced, retaining remarkable elegance for the appellation.
La Grande Ourse 2023 drinks well today and after a few years of cellaring. It pairs beautifully with roasted meats, perfumed Mediterranean cooking or stews with southern herbs. A wine of character, at once sun-filled and well-balanced, true to the identity of Suze-la-Rousse and to Pascal Chalon's precise style.
