Shallow limestone terroir revealing itself in pure elegance, this Nuits unfolds with finesse and tension.
Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Murgers 2020 Domaine Bertagna
At the heart of the Côte de Nuits, Domaine Bertagna tends this Premier Cru with precision, located on the northern slopes of Nuits-Saint-Georges, immediately adjacent to Vosne-Romanée. The Les Murgers climat rests on limestone and stony soils of exceptional drainage, bringing fineness, tension and depth to the Pinot Noir.
The 2020 vintage, sunny and concentrated, allowed optimal ripeness whilst preserving balance and freshness. Parcel-by-parcel vinification and oak ageing, handled with care, accompany the wine's structure without masking terroir expression.
The colour is deep ruby with garnet reflections. The nose reveals intense aromas of black cherry, blackberry and plum, enriched with fine spice, violet and a subtle hint of oak. On the palate, the attack is ample and structured, supported by tight yet elegant tannins. The material is dense, balanced by fine freshness that extends the finish across fruited, spiced and subtly mineral notes.
Serve around 16–17°C after decanting in its youth. It will pair beautifully with roasted game, a côte de boeuf or rich sauced dishes. Its ageing potential is significant, 15 to 20 years, evolving towards complex aromas of undergrowth and spice.
