Silky tannins accompanied by complexity worthy of Burgundy's greatest wines, from Domaine Bertagna.
Vougeot 1er Cru Clos de la Perrière 2020, Domaine Bertagna
A historic monopoly of Domaine Bertagna, Clos de la Perrière is one of Vougeot's most emblematic climates. This walled 1er Cru, situated below Clos de Vougeot, rests on argilo-calcareous soils rich in scree, bringing to Pinot Noir controlled power, depth and elegance.
The 2020 vintage, sunny and concentrated, achieved optimal ripeness while preserving tension and balance. Parcel-by-parcel vinification, combined with precise oak ageing, underlines the wine's natural structure without masking fruit purity or the signature of the clos.
The colour is deep ruby with garnet reflections. The nose reveals intense aromas of dark cherry, blackberry and plum, completed by notes of violet, fine spices and a delicately toasted touch. On the palate, the attack is ample and structured, carried by present yet silky tannins. The fruit is dense and harmonious, balanced by fine freshness that extends the finish towards fruity and mineral nuances.
Serve around 16–17°C after decanting in its youth. It will ideally accompany roasted game, beef fillet or a rich sauce dish. Its cellaring potential is significant, 15 to 20 years, evolving towards more complex aromas of forest floor, spices and truffle.
