A legendary bottle. Tempos Vega Sicilia's Valbuena 5° is one of Spain's most revered wines, a bridge between youthful vibrancy and the grandeur of Unico.
Ribera del Duero Valbuena 5° 2019 – Tempos Vega Sicilia
A symbol of elegance and precision, the Valbuena 5° 2019 perfectly illustrates the singular style of Vega Sicilia, the storied estate of Ribera del Duero. A true bridge between the power of Unico and the freshness of youth, this cuvée delivers a subtle, harmonious expression of Tempranillo.
Made primarily from Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) with a touch of Merlot, the wine comes from the estate's own vines on the banks of the Duero, cultivated on clay and limestone soils at over 700 metres altitude. The 2019 vintage, marked by a balanced climate and calm harvest conditions, yielded ideal fruit ripeness.
Vinification, carried out with rigorous attention, is followed by a long ageing of five years, hence the name, alternating between new oak, barrels of various sizes, and large casks, in order to preserve the purity of the fruit while building complexity and texture.
The bouquet reveals a magnificent aromatic palette: ripe dark fruits, violet, sweet spices, cocoa, and a hint of cedar. On the palate, the silky, enveloping texture unveils a deep structure, supported by perfectly integrated freshness. The finish, long and noble, leaves an imprint of finesse and precision.
A fine wine for the cellar, from one of Spain's most illustrious houses, to be savoured now after decanting, or laid down for two decades of graceful evolution.
