A rare, expressive Arvine from old vines on limestone cliffs by Steve Bettschen. Rich in texture and aromatic complexity.
Arvine Vieille Vigne sur Falaise 2023 Steve Bettschen is a rare and expressive cuvée from the Jura canton in Switzerland, crafted by Steve Bettschen, a vigneron recognised for his artisanal, precise approach and profound respect for terroirs. This cuvée illuminates the full nobility of Arvine, an emblematic Alpine variety, in an interpretation both pure, tense and mineral.
The old vines are planted on a spectacular limestone cliff terroir, conferring strong identity, remarkable freshness and tension to the wine. This singular geological context, combined with vine age, allows natural concentration of the grape and particularly fine expression of the variety. The 2023 vintage stands out for its balance and aromatic precision.
Vinification is conducted with great restraint to preserve the wine's energy and terroir clarity. The nose is intense and elegant, revealing aromas of ripe citrus, grapefruit, pear and white flowers, underscored by the characteristic salinity of Arvine. The palate is direct and vibrant, with beautiful substance, chiselled acidity and a long, saline, persistent finish.
This Arvine Vieille Vigne sur Falaise 2023 pairs beautifully with fish, shellfish, seafood or refined Alpine cuisine. It can be enjoyed now for its freshness and brightness, or cellared for a few years to gain complexity.
A great Swiss white wine, refined and mineral, expressing with precision Steve Bettschen's winemaking skill and the exceptional potential of the Swiss Jurassien terroirs.
