An airy Gamay on granite from Steve Bettschen, where fine mineral notes rest on deep, crunchy red fruit.
Gamay Sur Granite 2023 Steve Bettschen is a singular Swiss cuvée, crafted in the Jura canton by Steve Bettschen, a vigneron recognised for his artisanal work and constant search for purity and terroir expression. Committed to viticulture that respects living systems and non-interventionist winemaking, he creates wines of precision, sincerity and profound identity.
This cuvée comes from Gamay vines planted on granitic soils, a rare and demanding terroir in the region, conferring freshness, energy and a marked mineral framework to the wine. The 2023 vintage stands out for its beautiful fruit ripeness while maintaining great vibrancy, offering a bright and well-balanced reading of the variety.
Vinification favours gentle extractions to preserve fruit and drinkability, with measured ageing allowing the granite's identity to fully express itself. The nose is frank and expressive, marked by aromas of crunchy red fruits, raspberry and redcurrant, accompanied by floral notes and a lightly spicy touch. The palate is juicy, direct and energetic, with fine tannins, beautiful freshness and a clean, mineral finish.
This Gamay Sur Granite 2023 is best enjoyed lightly chilled. It pairs perfectly with charcuterie, white meats, vegetarian dishes or simple, convivial food.
A luminous and precise Swiss Gamay, showcasing the influence of the granitic soil and Steve Bettschen's exacting style, balancing fruitiness, freshness and elegance.
