Delicate and fresh fruit, very greedy. Perfect with salads and grilled dishes from Château Puech-Haut.
The Bib'Art Rosé from Château Puech-Haut is one of the most joyful and singular objects you can place at the centre of a table, all at once an artwork, a collector's object, and a rosé for immediate pleasure, born from the improbable and successful meeting between a great Languedoc vineyard and the unbridled creativity of international artists. Winner of best wine in bag-in-box at the international Wine in Box 2016 competition, Bib'Art has become in twenty-five years one of the most recognisable and most copied signatures in contemporary French viticulture.
An idea born in 2000
The Bib'Art adventure began in 2000, when Gérard Bru, founder of Château Puech-Haut, imagined a container for rosé wine of 3 litres that would be beautiful enough to stand proudly at the centre of a table without shame or self-consciousness. The idea is as simple as it is radical: give international artists of all horizons and graphic styles complete freedom to paint the wooden barrels of the estate, then faithfully reproduce these works on small metal barrels containing a bag of 3 litres of wine. Each barrel is thus an exact replica of a hand-painted barrel, signed and numbered. In exchange for their creation, artists receive the quantity of wine contained in the barrel they have decorated: the contents for the container. More than a hundred artists have already participated in this unique adventure, making Bib'Art a veritable travelling museum of wine and contemporary art.
The terroir and the wine
Located in Saint-Drézéry, between the Mediterranean and the foothills of the Cévennes, in the immediate vicinity of Montpellier, Château Puech-Haut today comprises more than 115 hectares of vines spread across three properties: Château Puech-Haut, Domaine de Theyron and Château Lavabre. The soils, composed of clay and limestone covered with rolled pebbles, are identical to those of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, a terroir of remarkable richness and generosity, bathed in Mediterranean climate, exposed to the sun and swept by sea breezes. The Bib'Art rosé is a blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Cinsault, hand-harvested at perfect ripeness. The winemaking is conducted by direct pressing without maceration, to obtain a very pale colour and an aromatic expression of great freshness. The musts ferment at low temperature, between 12 and 14°C, with malolactic fermentation blocked to preserve all the liveliness of the fruit.
Tasting profile
The colour is a very pale rosé with salmon tints, luminous and delicate. The nose is fresh, direct and immediately appealing: aromas of wild strawberry, white peach and citrus mingle with subtle floral notes evoking rose and honeysuckle. On the palate, the wine is lively, light and highly drinkable: the attack is fresh and fruity, the finish clean and slightly saline, with pleasant aromatic persistence that invites you to pour another glass. A rosé of pleasure and conviviality, designed to be shared without ceremony, in the sunny and generous spirit of Mediterranean Languedoc.
Food pairings
This Bib'Art Rosé is the ideal companion to a barbecue among friends, a board of charcuterie and cheeses, a salade niçoise, summer grills, fennel-grilled fish or light Asian cuisine. It will also be perfect as an aperitif, served well chilled at 8 to 10°C, as an invitation to festivity and sharing.
