The richness and singular character of Gevrey-Chambertin shine through in this magnificent bottle from Domaine Olivier Jouan.
Located at the edge of Morey-Saint-Denis, the climat Les Seuvrées produces particularly well-balanced wines, at the intersection of Gevrey-Chambertin's power and neighbouring finesse. With the 2023 vintage, Domaine Olivier Jouan offers a precise, elegant and already very appealing interpretation.
A confidential domaine of the Côte de Nuits, Olivier Jouan works his vines with rigour and sensitivity, favouring respectful practices and uninterventionist winemaking. Extractions are gentle, ageing measured, to preserve the wine's fruit and terroir integrity.
The nose opens with an expressive bouquet of dark and red fruits, mingling cherry, blackberry and raspberry, accompanied by delicate floral notes and a subtle spiced touch. With aeration, hints of undergrowth and a light oak patina emerge, fully integrated.
The palate is harmonious, with good density and fine tannins already well in place. The wine unfolds with precision, offering pure fruit, an elegant structure and freshness that brings tension and length.
The finish is persistent, with a beautiful allonge of spiced and lightly mineral notes. A Gevrey-Chambertin that is both approachable and serious, expressing this climat's identity with accuracy and capable of evolving with grace over the coming years.
