Champagne Rosé Zero Brut Nature from Tarlant. Zero dosage, fine bubbles, delicate rosé with red fruits, chalk and subtle brioche. Precise, mineral, elegant.
The Champagne Rosé Zero Brut Nature from Tarlant is the house's entry cuvée and the most direct expression of its philosophy in rosé form. Non-vintage, zero dosage, uncompromising, it embodies Benoît Tarlant's daily obsession with authenticity. A vibrant rosé brimming with red fruit aromas and minerality, wild red berries, chalk, rose petals and white flowers, punctuated by saline notes on the finish. Authentic and demanding, a champagne of character expressing the Tarlant style with precision, sincerity and absolute terroir focus.
Blend and production
The Zero Rosé is a non-vintage blend of 42% Pinot Noir, 37% Chardonnay and 21% Pinot Meunier, completed with small proportions of heritage varieties, Petit Meslier, Arbane and Pinot Blanc. Grapes come from across the domaine's 63 parcels spread over four villages, Oeuilly, Boursault, Saint-Agnan and Celles-lès-Condé, each vinified separately for maximum assembly flexibility. The base vintage represents roughly 60% of the blend, completed by 40% reserve wines aged in oak to develop complexity and depth. The rosé colour comes from the addition of still Champagne Pinot Noir, bringing textural richness and fruit depth. Winemaking follows house philosophy entirely, gentle gravity pressing, spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, ageing in Burgundy oak of various ages, no malolactic fermentation, no filtration, no fining. Zero dosage, 0 grams per litre.
Tasting profile
The robe is a delicate, luminous grapefruit pink with fine, lively bubbles. The nose shows immediate precision and candour, wild red fruits, wild raspberry and wild strawberry, shining clearly alongside earthy notes of porcini, a whisper of undergrowth and a remarkable umami character of unusual depth that gives the bouquet an absolutely seductive dimension. On the palate, the wine is very dry and spicy, with refined fruit, saline nuances and immense minerality. The carbonation is harmoniously integrated, the texture creamy, the bubble fine. Sculpted acidity structures precise, well-tensioned matter. The finish is long, saline and mineral, with a clarity and purity confirming that zero dosage here is not a posture but an absolute necessity to reveal the frankness and sincerity of Champagne terroir without artifice or disguise.
The house
Since Louis XIV's time, the Tarlant family cultivated vines in the Marne valley. Today, Benoît and Mélanie Tarlant, twelfth generation, farm their 14 hectares in Oeuilly under certified organic agriculture, vinifying each variety from each parcel separately. The Zero series forms the backbone of house production, a daily obsession and permanent proof that dosage is not necessity but artifice, and that Champagne terroir, when carefully cultivated and vinified, needs no disguise to express its complete truth.
Food pairings
This Champagne Rosé Zero Brut Nature pairs beautifully with red tuna tataki, duck breast with cherry sauce, a seafood platter, smoked salmon with fresh herbs, pan-seared scallops in butter, fine charcuterie or aged Comté. Also perfect as an aperitif, lightly chilled at 8 to 10 °C, with iodine-rich or marine bites that dialogue with the saline minerality of the finish. A rosé champagne of character, uncompromising, for those who understand that purity is not constraint but freedom.
